Title
Proposed letter to Kevin McDonald, Chief, Certificate of Need, Maryland Health Care Commission supporting the Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center’s Certificate-of-Need Application, Behavioral Health.
Background
The Council sitting as the Board of Health was briefed on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, on Luminus Health Doctor’s Community Medical Center (LHDCMC) Certificate of Need (CON) application for a Behavioral Health Facility.
Representatives from LHDCMC provided pertinent information relative to their proposal including a 16-adult psychiatric inpatient (8-bed adult care and 8-bed residential substance use) beds and outpatient services as part of a comprehensive program for mental/behavioral services on the LHDCMC campus. The hospital’s proposed comprehensive Behavioral Health Program will provide local direct access to a continuum of mental health services including emergency, acute and transitional care. It will create a collaborative program with the Prince George’s County government and other partners in the community.
The outpatient services component doesn’t require a CON application. A fact sheet was included in the power point presentation outlining specific information.
The Maryland Health Care Commission must approve hospitals’ plans to develop Behavioral Health inpatient programs and seeks letter of support from impacted jurisdictions.
