Title

AN ACT CONCERNING RE-ENTRY EMPLOYMENT INCENTIVE PROGRAM MODIFICATIONS for the purpose of modifying the Prince George’s County Re-entry Employment Incentive Program to increase employer reimbursement subsidies, adjust timing of reimbursements, and revise definitions; and generally relating to the Prince George’s County Re-entry Employment Incentive Program.

Background

This bill will strengthen the County's existing Re-entry Employment Incentive Program by increasing the financial incentives available to employers that hire returning citizens into qualifying positions. Specifically, the legislation increases the reimbursement rate from $5.00 to $10.00 per hour, raises the minimum qualifying wage from $15.00 to $25.00 per hour, establishes reimbursement payments every six months following a ninety-day probationary period, creates a dedicated nonlapsing program fund for employer reimbursements, and adjusts annual reporting requirements.
