Background

This Resolution is for the purpose of authorizing the Director of the Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation (“DPW&T”) to file applications for Fiscal Year 2027 with, but not limited to the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and its’ offices and modal administrations, including the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA), the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) and the Maryland Highway Safety Office (MSHO); the United States Department of Homeland Security (USDHS); the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) and its’ offices and modal administrations including the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA); the United States Department of Energy (DOE); the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)  and Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) or any other Federal or State agencies not identified in this listing.

 

Applications for financial assistance under certain grant programs of the aforementioned agencies impose certain obligations upon the applicant. This includes providing a local share of cost for certain projects and requiring the governing body of Prince George’s County by Resolution to authorize the filing of grants. 

 

Additionally, the United States Department of Transportation, in accordance with the provisions of the Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, requires an applicant for assistance under the Federal Transit Act to give assurances that it will comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the United States Department of Transportation requirements thereunder.
