Title

Proposed correspondence to Kevin McDonald, Chief, Certificate of Need, Maryland Health Care Commission in support of Luminus Health Doctor’s Community Medical Center’s Certificate of Need application for Obstetrics.

Background

The Council sitting as the Board of Health was briefed on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, on Luminus Health Doctor’s Community Medical Center (LHDCMC) Certificate of Need (CON) application for Obstetric Services.

Representatives from LHDCMC provided pertinent information relative to their proposal to expand, upgrade, and renovate the existing hospital at 8118 Good Luck Road, Lanham, Maryland.  Creation of an Obstetric Facility in the County would respond to the needs of the County.  A fact sheet was included in the power point presentation outlining specific information.

The Maryland Health Care Commission must approve hospitals’ plans to develop obstetrics programs and seek letter of support from impacted jurisdictions.
