Title

A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE ELMO CLARK HOUSE, THE DASHIELL HOUSE, THE VERNON WRIGHT HOUSE, THE HELEN DWIGHT REID HOUSE, AND THE ODELL HOUSE AS PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY HISTORIC SITES for the purpose of approving the designation of the Elmo Clark House (68-074f-02), the Dashiell House (68-010-91), the Vernon Wright House (68-010-92), the Helen Dwight Reid House (80-057), and the Odell House (83-048) as Historic Sites in Prince George’s County.

Background

The owners of these five properties respectively requested designation as a Prince George’s County Historic Site in accordance with the provisions of Section 29-120.01 of the Prince George’s County Code. The history and significance of each of these properties was documented by the Historic Preservation Section within the Planning Department of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission. As provided by law, the properties were reviewed by the Prince George’s County Historic Preservation Commission (“HPC”), and the HPC recommendations were the subject of a Joint Public Hearing held by the County Council of Prince George’s County, sitting as the District Council and the Prince George’s County Planning Board of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.  Based on the recommendations and testimony from the joint public hearing, this resolution will serve as final action by the District Council as to the subject applications, thereby approving the designation of five properties stated herein as Prince George’s County Historic Sites.
