Title An Act concerning taxicabs and limousines for the purpose of amending provisions of the Code regulating taxicabs, amending certain definitions and requirements for certificates of registration, licensees, fees and otherwise relating to the regulation of taxicabs. Background The proposed legislation seeks to implement the recommendations of the Taxicab Service Task Force, created by CR-74-2009, by amending the Code provisions regulating taxicabs, amending certain definitions and requirements for certificates of registration, licensees, fees and otherwise related to the regulation of taxicabs in the County. 7/13/2010 - After public hearing CB-36-2010 (DR-3) was amended on the floor as follows: Motion to Amendment #1 by Council Member Exum; seconded by Council Member Turner; motion carried 9-0. AMENDMENT#1 1. On page 18, starting at line 14 after “below”, add “, unless the Council, by resolution, after the annual review shall reduce or eliminate the number of certificates to be issued”; 2. On page 18, starting at line 15 after “Council”, delete “may, by resolution,” and substitute “shall” and after “review”, add “by July 15th,”. 3. On page 18, starting at line 29, after “certificate.”, add “For the purpose of certificates issued on October 1, 2010 under subsection (a), the Director shall only consider the period of two (2) years prior to the effective date of this Act ”.
