Title

AN ACT CONCERNING LOCAL IMPACT GRANT FUNDING FOR OXON HILL, FRIENDLY AND POTOMAC HIGH SCHOOLS for the purpose of requiring annual allocation of certain funds to support defense, cybersecurity, health, legal, enforcement, music and arts education programs at Oxon Hill High School, Friendly High School and Potomac High School.

Background

CB-22-2017 was enacted by the Council on June 6, 2017 for the purpose of establishing a dedicated and recurring funding source from the Local Impact Grant to Crossland High School's vocational, technical and skilled trades program.  Beginning FY 2018, the County was required to allocate at least 25% of the Local Impact Grant, up to an amount not to exceed $2,200,000 for the program at Crossland High School.  The proposed legislation would require that at least 25% of the Local Impact Grant be allocated to Crossland High School and include defense programs at Oxon Hill High School; cybersecurity and health programs at Friendly High School; legal and enforcement programs at Potomac High School, and music and arts education programs at all four high schools.
