Background
Dimensions Healthcare Systems, Inc. operates a multi-unit hospital and healthcare facilities system within the County, including major acute care hospital facilities owned by and previously operated by the County. Dimensions Healthcare has requested financial assistance from the County to help pay for operations costs. The County previously approved emergency appropriations (CB-98-2003) that provided $5 Million in the current fiscal year. The County Executive and the Governor have negotiated an agreement to provide additional financial assistance to Dimensions Healthcare in future fiscal years that will require the identification of additional sources of revenue by the County Executive and additional appropriations by the County Council.
The proposed resolution states the County Council's position regarding the fiscal justification for providing continuing fiscal support for Dimensions Healthcare and related conditions to be met regarding future appropriations by the Council. The proposed resolution also provides notice of a public meeting of the Council, sitting as the Board of Health, on March 9, 2004, to review all issues pertaining to the continuation of financial support of Dimensions Healthcare.
