Title A Resolution for the purpose of nominating Greenbelt Middle School Replacement located at 6301 Breezewood Drive, Greenbelt, Maryland 20770 (the Project) as a Smart Site for participation in the Maryland Smart Sites Initiative of the Governor’s Smart Green and Growing initiative, administered by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) Background The Prince George’s County Planning Department worked directly with the Prince George’s County Public Schools to prepare an application nominating the Greenbelt Middle School Project as a 2010 Maryland Smart Site. The Greenbelt Middle School Replacement Project meets the criteria to be designated as a Smart Site. The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, Division of Neighborhood Revitalization accepted nominations for a second round of Smart Sites, on July 2, 2010. “The Smart Sites Initiative focuses public and private investment and green building practices in projects that encourage smart growth and revitalization in existing Maryland communities. ….Designated Smart Sites benefit from interagency review, technical assistance, promotion and outreach. While no specific funding source is associated with Smart Sites, state agency staff may provide technical assistance to identify public and private sources of project financing.” As a part of the application process, the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, Division of Neighborhood Revitalization requires the local government to submit a resolution of the governing body in July 2010 for the nominated Smart Site.
