Title

AN ACT CONCERNING 2025-2026 COMPENSATION REVIEW COMMISSION for the purpose of establishing a Compensation Review Commission to study the rate of current compensation and allowances for Council members and compensation for the County Executive and making recommendations regarding the amount of compensation in accordance with state and local laws, and generally relating to the Compensation Review Commission.

 

Background

This Bill provides for the establishment of a Compensation Review Commission and for the appointment of its members. Section 308 and Section 406 of the Charter of Prince George’s County, Maryland provide for the appointment of a compensation review commission by the Council and County Executive.  Section 10-302, Local Government I Article, Annotated Code of Maryland provides that by ordinance, a county may establish a commission to recommend compensation and allowances for members of the county legislative body.  Section 10-303, Local Government I Article, Annotated Code of Maryland provides that the county may set the qualifications, term of office, and compensation for the County Executive.

 

The 2025-2026 Compensation Review Commission shall consist of the following seven citizens:  Gloria G. Lawlah, Maurice Simpson, Jr., Steven L. Taylor, appointed by the County Council, and L. Denise Hall, Arthur J. Horne, Jr., Jacqueline B. Woody, appointed by the County Executive; and Chair Camille A. Exum, jointly agreed upon by the County Executive and the Chair of the County Council.
