Title

AN ACT CONCERNING COMMERCIAL PROPERTY STANDARDS for the purpose of prohibiting framing lights in commercial storefronts to reduce the harmful effects of light pollution on Prince George’s County residents and neighborhoods; and providing for certain fines for non-compliance.

Background

The purpose of this bill is to prohibit LED string lights in commercial storefronts, which have become ubiquitous to certain areas of Prince George’s County. These lights, especially those which shine throughout the night, disturb the quiet enjoyment of neighboring residential areas. As a violation of property standards, the Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement will be authorized to serve notice and fine property owners who fail to remove these LED string lights.
