Title
A Resolution approving the designation of a portion of Prince George’s County as a Sustainable Community by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (“DHCD”)
Background
The Montgomery County Government, in partnership with Prince George’s County and nine Montgomery County municipalities, is seeking designation of an area including that portion of Prince George’s County included within the Takoma Langley Crossroads sector plan as a “Sustainable Community.” In the Sustainable Communities Act of 2010, the Maryland General Assembly created a consolidated designation of areas for revitalization investment called the “Sustainable Community.” This designation allows access to resources from a number of State programs, including the Community Legacy Program, the Neighborhood Business Works Program, the Maryland Sustainable Communities Tax Credit Program, the Job Creation Tax Credit, and the Sidewalk Retrofit Program.
The State of Maryland requires local legislative support for each Sustainable Community application
