Title A Resolution initiating an amendment to the 2006 Approved Master Plan for Bowie and Vicinity and Sectional Map Amendment (Planning Areas 71A, 71B, 74A, and 74B), and the 2002 Prince George’s County Approved General Plan, and approving Goals, Concepts, Guidelines, and Public Participation Program in order to develop a comprehensive approach to implement the recommendations of the 2002 General Plan to ensure that future development is consistent with county policies. Background The approved FY 2008 Planning Department Work Program requires the initiation of a Sector Plan and a concurrent SMA for the Bowie MARC station area, which will amend the 2002 Prince George’s County Approved General Plan. The new Sector Plan will re-evaluate land use intensity and compatibility and the goals of the General Plan are to enhance the quality and character of the community, encourage quality economic development, preserve and protect environmentally sensitive and scenic land, and make efficient use of existing and proposed county infrastructure and investment for the Bowie MARC station area. This resolution initiates the Bowie State MARC Station Sector Plan and Sectional Map Amendment.
