Title

AN ACT CONCERNING AMENDMENT OF SECTIONS 301, 303, AND 307A, CHARTER OF PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY for the purpose of proposing an amendment to Sections 301, 303 and 307A of the Charter of Prince George's County to provide for the election of two additional members to the County Council, to provide for the additional members to be elected at large and to provide for the eligibility of at-large members of the Council.

Background

The County Charter provides that the Council shall be composed of nine members and that each member of the Council, at the time of his election, shall reside in a different one of the nine Council districts of the County, and shall be nominated and elected by the qualified voters of the Council district in which he resides.  The proposed Charter Amendment would provide for the election of council members by district and at large, change the composition of the Council to a system of nine district members and two at large members, and provide for the eligibility of at-large members of the Council.
