Title
A Resolution concerning the State of Maryland Neighborhood and Community Assistance Program for the purpose of expressing approval of the project submitted by CASA de Maryland, Inc., to the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development for participation in the Department’s Community Investment Tax Credit Program
Background
CASA de Maryland, Inc. (CASA) is a 501(c)(3) community-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the social, economic well-being and the quality of life for the Latino and immigrant community in Maryland. CASA has established a “CASA Multicultural Center” to improve the quality of life and sustain economic self sufficiency of low-income immigrants through workforce development and provision of legal, health, social, educational programming and financial literacy training. CASA will provide these services at the CASA Multicultural Center, the site of the McCormick-Goodhart Mansion, a property listed in the National Register of Historic Places that is located in a Priority Funding Area.
The project would promote the overall objectives of the Prince George’s County Department of Housing and Community Development’s Five Year Consolidated Plan and FY2011 Annual Action Plan. Further, the project would focus on neighborhood revitalization and boost property values.
To support its project, CASA is requesting $50,000.00 in Community Investment Tax Credits. The State of Maryland requires local legislative support for participation in the Program. There is no financial impact on the County.
