Title

AN ACT CONCERNING TRANSFER OF THE PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY HOSPITAL SYSTEM PROPERTY for the purpose of exempting the transfer of certain real property improved by the Prince George’s County Hospital System from County laws governing the sale, lease, or other disposition of County property and repealing Subtitle 12. - Health, Division 3. - Hospitals of the Prince George’s County Code.

Background

This Bill exempts the transfer of the real property improved by the Laurel Regional Hospital and the real property improved by the Bowie Health Center from County laws governing the sale, lease, or other disposition of County property and repeals County laws that require the County to lease the Prince George’s County Hospital System to Dimensions Health Corporation.  The Bill will allow the County to transfer those healthcare facilities to Dimensions Health Corporation or University of Maryland Medical Systems to own and operate as part of the Regional Medical Center.  The Bill requires that properties revert to the County if they cease to be used for health care purposes within ten (10) years from the date they are transferred to University of Maryland Medical System Corporation.
