Title A Resolution repealing the designation of the Bradford Pear Tree (Pyrus Calleryriana) as the official tree of Prince George’s County Background Prince George’s County had designated the Bradford Pear Tree (Pyrus Calleryriana) in the 1970s as the County Tree for Prince George’s County. Because of ecological and maintenance concerns raised regarding the Bradford Pear Tree, this resolution seek to repeal this designation and establishes a workgroup of interested stakeholders, including County and Planning Department staff, to review the Prince George’s County Master Gardeners’ proposal for the Allegheny Serviceberry (Amerlanchier laevis) and make a recommendation to the County Executive and County Council for designation of an official County Tree.
