Background Necessitating Legislation:
This bill will require, as part of the surplus County property inventory process, an evaluation of County-owned property for suitability for development as elderly or affordable housing and will require that the determination of suitability for such development be provided to the County Council with the annual inventory. It will also require that certain economic development projects that include residential units and that involve the disposition of county surplus property provide a certain percentage of affordable housing units.
