Title
A Resolution concerning the State of Maryland Neighborhood and Community Assistance Program for the purpose of expressing approval of the project submitted by Jehovah Jireh Community Development Center, Inc. to the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development for participation in the Department’s Community Investment Tax Credit Program
Background
Jehovah Jireh Community Development Center, Inc. (“JJCDC”), a nonprofit youth services organization based in Prince George’s County, Maryland, has proposed to undertake a project known as “Teens Take Charge – Educational and Self Esteem Program.” The mission of the project is to decrease teen pregnancy and increase self esteem and educational opportunities in Oxon Hill, a Priority Funding Area. JJCDC would launch a marketing campaign to attract parents and school administration for participation and recruitment. In addition, JJCDC would access and evaluate self development and academic programs in preparation for a summer enrichment camp. Throughout the 2012 Community Investment Tax Credit funding period, JJCDC would hire local business consultants to implement the project. This project would provide public services aimed at improving the quality of life for the residents in a Priority Funding Area. The State of Maryland requires local legislative support for participation in the Program.
