A Resolution petitioning the chief executive and administrative officer of the City of Hyattsville for referendum on a certain resolution of annexation
Background
On July 19, 2004, the City of Hyattsville adopted its Annexation Resolution 2004-04 to annex properties in the area generally referred to as University Hills. Article 23A, Section 19(h) of the Annotated Code of Maryland provides that the County governing body may petition to referendum a resolution approving an annexation within 45 days following final enactment. The proposed resolution will petition the City to conduct a referendum of the proposed annexation. The resolution must be adopted by a two-thirds vote of the full County Council and signed by the County Executive prior to September 3, 2004.
