Title

AN ACT CONCERNING MISSING PERSONS WITHIN THE COUNTY-DACARA ROSE’S LAW for the purpose of prohibiting any mandatory waiting period before taking a missing person report; requiring prompt acceptance of missing person reports; requiring public-facing notice that no waiting period is imposed; providing for implementation by written policy; and generally relating to missing person reports and law enforcement practices in Prince George’s County.

Background

This bill would create a clear Countywide rule that no one has to wait to report a missing person in Prince George's County. This would require the Prince George's County Police Department and municipal police department to accept missing-person reports immediately, without any mandatory waiting period. The bill also requires agencies to make reasonable efforts to inform the public and families that there is no required delay before making a report.
