Title

A RESOLUTION CONCERNING MARYLAND NATIONAL-CAPITAL PARK AND PLANNING COMMISSION for the purpose of approving a certain transfer of appropriations within the Park and Recreation Funds of the Approved Fiscal Year 2026 Operating Budget of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.

Background

This resolution amends Prince George's County portion of the FY 2026 Budget for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) to reallocate funding within the Commission's Recreation Fund. Within the approved FY 2026 budget, the Council set aside $6.3 million for potential programming opportunities for the Department of Parks and Recreation as well as $14.7 million for reimbursable recreation activities carried out by local organizations (project charges). Since the passage of the budget in May 2025, the Council has identified new partnership opportunities and recreational needs which can be fulfilled through its Council-directed pilot program. Accordingly, this resolution reallocates funds from specific projects set forth in the resolution to the County Council's pilot for recreation programming.
