Title A Resolution concerning School Facilities Surcharge for the purpose of adjusting the school facilities surcharge for Fiscal Year 2010, beginning July 1, 2009, as required by County law Background Pursuant to Chapter 26 of the 2003 Laws of Prince George’s County, beginning in Fiscal Year 2005, the County Council, by resolution, shall adjust the school facilities surcharge each year by the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers published by the United States Department of Labor from the previous fiscal year. The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers, during the period of April 2008 to April 2009 compared to the 12 month period ending April 2008, shows a decrease of 0.7% and results in a decrease of $57 below the Fiscal Year 2009 school facilities surcharge of $8,177 for permits issued for buildings between Interstate Highway 495 and the District of Columbia and for permits issued for buildings included within a basic plan or conceptual site plan that abuts an existing or planned mass transit rail station site operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority and a decrease of $98 below the Fiscal Year 2009 school facilities surcharge of $14,019 for permits issued for all other buildings. For Fiscal Year 2010, the school facilities surcharge shall be $8,120 for permits issued for buildings located between Interstate Highway 495 and the District of Columbia and for permits issued for buildings included within a basic plan or conceptual site plan that abuts an existing or planned mass transit rail station site operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority and $13,921 for all other buildings
