Title
A Resolution initiating a functional Public Safety Master Plan to support the development pattern in the 2002 General Plan, update the 1990 Public Safety Master Plan, and conform the Plan to Federal, State, County and Municipal policies and initiatives
Background
The Public Safety Master Plan was last updated in 1990. Since that time, substantial development has occurred in the County and the provision of public facilities needed to accommodate this level of development has not been reviewed. In addition, the 2002 General Plan develops new policies, strategies and objectives to be implemented in the policy areas. Therefore, the existing public facility policies need to be reassessed in light of changes since 1990 and the new policy directives established in the 2002 General Plan.
The Public Safety Master Plan will define standards for facility locations, project facility needs based on population forecasts, and identify efficient cost-effective approaches, such as co-location of facilities to address facility needs. The Plan will recommend facility locations, providing for future development within the context of the 2002 General Plan.
