Title

A RESOLUTION CONCERNING RESTAURANT DEVELOPMENT AND ACCELERATION for the purpose of encouraging the Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement to establish a Restaurant Concierge Service pilot program which accelerate the development and location of new restaurants inside of the Capital Beltway.

Background

This resolution calls on the Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement to establish a pilot program which provides dedicated permitting support to applicants seeking to bring new restaurants inside of the Capital Beltway. This "concierge service" would provide each participant with a dedicated liaison to help navigate the complex permitting approval process for restaurants, including: pre-application meeting; facilitating discussion with other County agencies; assistance with coordinating inspections; and troubleshooting application delays. Additionally, the Department would make available sample floorplan layouts which demonstrate compliance with mechanical, environmental and food safety requirements. Finally, the Department would annually report program statistics to the County Council which evaluate the success of the pilot program.
