Title
An Act amending the Housing Code to add safety and security requirements and standards and administrative requirements and procedures for the issuance of rental licenses to owners of multifamily rental facilities consisting of ten (10) or more units
Background
Currently, the Housing Code sets forth minimum standards for multifamily rental facilities and for the issuance of multifamily rental facility licenses. This legislation establishes the use of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles and a Safety and Security Plan to require additional safety and security standards and requirements and administrative requirements and procedures for multifamily rental facilities consisting of ten (10) or more units. The purpose of the additional standards is to prevent and reduce crime in multifamily rental facilities by using environmental and security features that are required at the time of rental licensing and rental licensing renewal.
