Background

The resolution establishes a task force dedicated to developing strategies for the placement of accessory dwelling units (ADUs) on land designated for single-family residential dwellings in Prince George's County.

House Bill 1466, the Maryland Accessory Dwelling Units Act of 2025, was signed into law and will take effect on October 1, 2025. This legislation mandates that counties and municipalities adopt local laws by October 1, 2026, authorizing the development of ADUs on land zoned for single-family dwellings.
