Title
A Resolution approving the application by the Central Gateway Community Development Corporation for funding through the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Community Legacy Financial Assistance Fund
Background
Central Gateway Community Development Corporation has applied for funding in the amount of $500,000 to fund Phase II of the Kingdom Square Façade Improvement Project through the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Community Legacy Financial Assistance Fund. Central Gateway Community Development Corporation applied for, and received, Community Legacy funding in 2006, which the County supported in CR-8-2006, and adopted on February 21, 2006. The Kingdom Square Shopping Center, formerly known as Hampton Mall, is a commercial property bordering the Capital Beltway in Capitol Heights. The Kingdom Square Façade Improvement Project – Phase II will continue to improve and restore the visual appeal and condition of Central Avenue and the surrounding community of Capitol Heights. The State of Maryland requires local legislative support for each Community Legacy Program application in unincorporated areas.
