CR-124-2013 - A RESOLUTION CONCERNING STATE OF MARYLAND COMMUNITY INVESTMENT TAX CREDIT PROGRAM for the purpose of approving the project submitted by CASA de Maryland, Inc. to the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development for participation in the Department's Community Investment Tax Credit Program.
Background
CASA de Maryland, Inc. ("CASA") is a 501(c)(3) community based nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the social, economic well-being, and quality of life for the Latino and immigrant community in Maryland. CASA is a community resource, facilitator and advocate for low-income, Latino and other immigrant community members. They provide service to the community through seven offices, two of which are located in Langley Park, Maryland. CASA is applying to the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development for approval of its Immigrant Integration Program (the "Project") for participation in the Community Investment Tax Credit Program. CASA is seeking tax credit allocations in the amount of $50,000.00 to support this Project which includes citizenship education, mentoring and interview preparation, application assistance, and post-naturalization support. The State of Maryland requires local legislative support for participation in the Program.
