Proposed correspondence to Segun C. Eubanks, Ed.D., Chair, Prince George’s County Board of Education, regarding their final Operating Budget Transfer between major expenditure categories for Fiscal Year 2016.
Background
The Board of Education’s FY 2016 Final Operating Budget Transfer requests authority to transfer appropriations between major budget expenditure categories in the amount of $26,611,900 or 1.5% of the total budget. The Board of Education’s total FY 2016 budget would remain at the County approved level of $1,841,567,725 as no new funding is being requested. Funds will be transferred to the major categories of: Administration, Mid-Level Administration, Textbooks and Instructional Materials, Other Instructional Costs, Special Education, Student Personnel Services, Health Services, Student Transportation Services, Maintenance of Plant and Community Services. These additional expenditures are offset by reduced allowances for the following major category: Instructional Salaries, Operation of Plant, Fixed Charges and Food Service Subsidy. Fixed Charges represent the bulk of the savings realized as a result of reduced fringe benefit expenses (e.g., health, pension, unemployment, and workers compensation).
