A RESOLUTION CONCERNING M-I-O (MILITARY INSTALLATION OVERLAY) ZONING MAP AMENDMENT for the purpose of directing, in accordance with applicable provisions of state and local law, that an additional public hearing be scheduled in order to receive further public comment and written testimony in the record of public hearing testimony as to five (5) proposed changes to the underlying zoning classifications for certain specific properties situated within the Military Installation Overlay (M-I-O) Zoning Map Amendment, as endorsed by the Prince George’s Planning Board of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.
Background
CB-42-2015 was enacted by the County Council of Prince George’s County, sitting as the District Council for the purpose of establishing a new zoning classification in Prince George’s County, the Military Installation Overlay (M-I-O) Zone, along with enabling authority for the initiation and preparation of a proposed M-I-O Zone, including procedures for the consideration and potential approval of the zone by the District Council.
After conducting a joint public hearing with the Prince George’s Planning Board on April 5, 2016, the County Council, sitting as the District Council conducted work session as the Committee of the Whole in order to examine the recommendations of the Technical Staff and Planning Board as to the proposed Military Installation Overlay Zone. Based on the recommendations therein and, pursuant to Section 27-213.30 of the Zoning Ordinance, this Resolution directs that an additional public hearing be held before the District Council for the purpose of receiving public comment and other testimony into the record as to five (5) rezoning proposals for reclassification of the zoning for the underlying zones for certain properties within the boundaries of the proposed Military Overlay Zone.
