Comments/Notes: Resolution

A resolution concerning the National Traffic Safety Administration to issue an immediate recall on specific Kias and Hyundai cars manufactured between 2011 and 2022 that pose a safety concern for Prince George's Citizens and to request insurance companies' policies provide coverage on these vehicles and a statement of justification when coverage is denied for the consideration of the County Council.

Background

This resolution calls on the National Traffic Safety Administration to use its authority to institute an immediate recall of unsafe Hyundais and Kias vehicles manufactured between 2011 and 2022 and to cease insurance companies from discriminating against policy holders of these vehicles. These cars were not property installed with immobilizers, an anti-theft device. In, addition, this proposed legislation calls upon the Prince George's House and Senate Delegations of the Maryland General Assembly encouraging them to issue a recall.
