Background Necessitating Legislation:
For the purpose of making the use regulations for Cannabis dispensaries and Cannabis micro-dispensaries consistent with provisions of State law; and generally regarding Cannabis uses in Prince George’s County.
This corrective bill is necessary to amend a section of the zoning ordinance that is out of alignment with State law. Specifically, it will add “place of worship” to the uses from which a cannabis dispensary or cannabis micro-dispensary but be located at least 500 feet from, and add “pre-existing” as a descriptor of said uses. Permits are not currently being issued for dispensaries within 500 feet of places of worship, but this bill will codify the requirement and insulate the County from possible legal challenge.
