Title

AN ACT CONCERNING PERMANENT RENT STABILIZATION AND PROTECTION ACT OF 2024 for the purpose of establishing permanent protections for renters against excessive rent increases and generally stabilizing rent prices in Prince George’s County, subject to certain conditions.

 

Background

On February 28, 2023, the Council enacted Council Bill No. CB-007-2023, to establish a Rent Stabilization Program for the protection of renters of property in the County. The bill was a temporary measure by design, enacted to sunset without further action of the County Council after one (1) calendar year from its taking effect. Accordingly, this bill will amend Subtitle 13 of the County Code to permanently protect renters of property from excessive rent increases.
