Title

AN ACT CONCERNING BUSINESSES AND LICENSES - INDUSTRIAL BUSINESSES for the purpose of restricting the operating hours of industrial businesses located near residential areas to mitigate the adverse effects of industrial activity on surrounding residential neighborhoods.

Background

This legislation addresses concerns raised by Prince George's County residents regarding the truck traffic, noise and other adverse effects of industrial activities, especially those conducted near residential areas. To mitigate these effects, this legislation limits the hours of operation for industrial businesses located within one thousand (1,000) feet of a home or residence. Industrial businesses, those operating under a principal industrial use and occupancy permit, must cease operations between 10pm and 6am.
