Title

AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING THE COUNTYWIDE SECTIONAL MAP AMENDMENT for the purpose of amending Section 27-1902 of the local zoning laws to clarify the intent of the District Council, via its enactment of Chapter No. 38, 2018 Laws of Prince George's County, Maryland, in order to maximize opportunities for the public to comment and otherwise submit testimony within a record of public hearing testimony, as specified by law.

Background

This bill will adjust the procedure for consideration and adoption of a Countywide Sectional Map Amendment to clarify the intention of the District Council to seek out and consider all public comment and other testimony for analysis by the Planning Department of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commision for consideration by the Prince George's County Planning Board, in furtherance of final action by the District Council as to the approval of comprehensive rezoning for all properties situated within that portion of the Maryland-Washington Regional District located in Prince George's County, Maryland.

This bill removes the reference to a sixty (60) day timeframe for the consideration of requests by the public to revise the zoning classification proposed for their property.  The substantive criteria regarding such requests are unaffected by this legislation.

Note: The County Council Rules of Procedure were not suspended to allow for an effective date on the date of adoption, therefore, CB-11-2019 (DR-2) will become effective forty-five (45) calendar days after its adoption.   Effective Date:  10/28/2019.
