A RESOLUTION CONCERNING TEMPORARY PAUSE ON DATA CENTER DEVELOPMENT APPROVALS for the purpose of adopting a temporary pause on processing, review and approval of building and grading permits for the construction of qualified data center uses or preliminary plans of subdivision which include qualified data centers among its proposed uses for a period of six months to allow the County sufficient time to consider and enact reasonable, thoughtful zoning and building requirements pertaining to data center developments to protect the public health, safety, and welfare.

Background
This resolution places a temporary pause on permits for the construction of data centers in Prince George’s County as well as preliminary plans of subdivision which propose data centers in Prince George's County while the Council considers comprehensive legislation on the zoning, siting, and construction of new data centers. This temporary pause is established in response to the County’s Qualified Data Center Task Force, which was formed to receive broad-based input on benefits and effects of constructing and operating data centers in the County and provide recommendations for comprehensive legislation. The Qualified Data Center Task Force is scheduled to submit its recommendations by November 30, 2025.
