Title

AN ACT CONCERNING HEALTHY FOOD PRIORITY AREA GROCERY STORE INCENTIVES for the purpose of establishing a Healthy Food Priority Area Tax Credit Program and related requirements.

Background

Chapter 158 of the Laws of Maryland (2019) authorized the governing body of Prince George's County to grant, by law, a property tax credit against the County property tax imposed on personal property of a grocery store that completes certain construction and is located in a certain healthy food priority area.  Pursuant to Section 9-318 of the Tax-Property Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland, the proposed legislation establishes a Healthy Food Priority Area Tax Credit Program.
