Title

AN ACT CONCERNING RECYCLING - SPECIAL EVENTS for the purpose of providing for recycling at certain special events; providing for more stringent recycling requirements and civil penalties; providing for reporting requirements; providing for compliance with a certain Recycling Plan; providing for the collection and disposition of certain civil penalties; providing for certain inspections; and generally relating to recycling.

 

Background

This bill requires recycling at any special event in the County that includes temporary or periodic use of a public street, publicly owned site or facility, or public park, that serves food or drink and is expected to have 100 or more persons in attendance. The organizer of a special event is required to provide a recycling receptacle immediately adjacent to each trash receptacle at the special event, ensure that all recycling receptacles are clearly distinguished from trash receptacles by color or signage and ensure that all recyclable materials deposited into recycling receptacles at the special event are collected for recycling.
