Background

Prince George's County's Board and Commissions are a critical component of the County's decision-making process. The many Boards and Commissions that service the County partake in discussion and research that has proven pivotal to the County's success. The County's many Boards and Commissions aim to make significant policy recommendations and advise elected officials on crucial subject matters. The County's Boards and Commissions gather information and insight by conducting hearings, interviews, and examining research.

As the Boards and Commissions carry out their duties, members of the County Council seek new ways to diversify the input the County receives. The Youth Advisory Inclusion Act aims to add a crucial demographic to these important discussions by adding at least two students members to a number of Boards and Commissions. These youth advisory members will serve full terms on their appointed Board or Commission. Sponsors propose this bill not only to gather new input in major County topics, but to also further strengthen the youth's involvement in County affairs.
