A RESOLUTION CONCERNING A PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY CIVIL RIGHTS MONUMENT COMMISSION for the purpose of establishing a commission to create and implement a plan to establish a civil rights monument in Prince George’s County to honor the historical contributions of county residents to the advancement of civil rights in Prince George’s County.

 

Background

This resolution creates the Prince George's County Civil Rights Monument Commission to plan a monument honoring local residents who advanced civil rights. The commission will study possible locations, designs, costs, and develop a full proposal for the County Council and Executive to approve. The commission will also hold community meetings to gather public input before finalizing its recommendations. The commission will be formed within ninety days of this resolutions adoption and shall submit its plan within six months of its first meeting.
