Title

AN ACT CONCERNING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN FOR PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY for the purpose of adding a class of work and amending an existing class.

Background

This Bill is submitted pursuant to Section 903 of Article IX of the Prince George’s County Charter and Section 16-125 (a) of the County Code.  The legislation proposes to amend the Equipment Operator and the Crew Supervisor class series and add the Transit Operator class of work.

A classification study was conducted on the Classification Plan and it revealed the following amendments and additions: (1) the Equipment Operator and Crew Supervisor class series should be amended to include relevant duties and certifications necessary for applicable duties and responsibilities (2) the Equipment Operator and the Crew Supervisor salaries are not comparable to those in this region and should be amended to attract and retain talent (3) the Transit Operator class of work needed to be added to capture those that operate public transit bus or multi- passenger vans.

The fiscal impact will be provided by the Office of Management and Budget.
