Title

A RESOLUTION CONCERNING ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT WEEK for the purpose of expressing Prince George’s County’s support for declaring the week of September 19 - September 23 as Economic Development Week in Prince George’s County.

Background

The Maryland Economic Development Association, the largest organization in Maryland, representing economic development professionals at State and County levels, and in the private sector, has initiated a statewide observance of Economic Development Week in Maryland.  The week is designed to increase understanding of economic development’s contribution to the State’s business climate, job retention and growth, the tax base and the overall quality of life in Maryland.  Governor Larry Hogan will be declaring the State of Maryland’s recognition of Economic Development Week, and the Governor has requested that all 23 Counties and Baltimore City recognize Economic Development Week locally in each jurisdiction.  This observance is intended to recognize the dedicated work of economic development professionals in attracting and growing the economy of the State and its Counties.
