Title

AN ACT CONCERNING LONG TERM PARKING ON PUBLIC HIGHWAYS, ROADS, AND STREETS for the purpose of reducing the time that a motor vehicle or trailer can be parked on a public highway, road, or street from seventy-two (72) hours to twenty-four (24) hours unless adjacent to the owner's home or business and amending the fine for a parking violation.

Background

Pursuant to County Code Section 26-122, no person shall park or allow to stand any vehicle on any of the public streets or roadways in the County for a period in excess of 72 hours.  Any person issued a citation for a violation of Section 26-122 shall be subject to a fine of $50.  The proposed legislation reduces the time that a motor vehicle or trailer can park on a public highway, road or street from 72 hours to 24 hours unless the vehicle or trailer is parked adjacent to the owner's home or business.  The bill also increases the fine for this parking violation from $50 to $250.
