Title

A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE WESTPHALIA CENTRAL PARK IMPLEMENTATION COMMITTEE for the purpose of re-naming and expanding the membership, mission and responsibilities of the multi-agency public/private work group to implement the vision for the Westphalia Central Park.

Background

The 2007 Westphalia Sector Plan envisions a new 150-acre central park near the Westphalia Town Center featuring a lake, a variety of active sports facilities, community event facilities, and family gathering and open space areas. The Plan recommends establishing a multi-agency public/private work group to implement the vision of the Westphalia Central Park.

This Resolution is needed to continue the work of the multi-agency public/private work group established by CR-38-2008 and extended by CR-31-2014 to create an advisory committee to implement the vision for the Westphalia Central Park pursuant to CR-2-2007 adopted on February 6, 2007, the Westphalia Sector Plan and Sectional Map Amendment, thereby defining long-range land use and development policies, detailed zoning policies, and community improvement proposals within the area generally defined by Ritchie-Marlboro Road to the northeast, the Capital Beltway (I-495) to the west, and Pennsylvania Avenue (MD 4) to the south, consisting of a portion of Planning Area 78, the boundaries of which are described in the Zoning Ordinance.
