Title

AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING CONVENIENCE STORE LOCATIONS for the purpose of amending the Zoning Ordinance to revise the use-specific standards applicable to convenience stores by adding a minimum distance between convenience store uses in furtherance of the public safety, health, and welfare of citizens and residents of Prince George’s County.

Background

The purpose of this bill is to address the public health and safety effects of the over-concentration of convenience stores in areas of Prince George's County by setting a minimum distance on the placement of new convenience stores from existing stores. In addition, the bill sets new hours of operations for convenience stores by requiring all such stores to close at 10pm.
