An Act concerning FY 2011-2012 Current Expense and Capital Budgets
Background
This bill adopts the County’s current expense budget and capital budget for the fiscal year 2012. It adopts an appropriations amount for the County’s General Fund portion of the budget of $2.65 billion, which is $31.2 million, 1.2% over the approved FY2011 budget of $2.62 billion. Overall, 65.6% of all General Funds are appropriated for Education (Board of Education, Community College and Memorial Library), while Criminal Justice and Public Safety receive 20.1% of the remaining funds. The remaining 14.3% of County General Funds, 9.9% goes to pay for fixed charges and debt service, leaving 4.4% for Human Services, Public Works, Environment and General Government. The budget also establishes appropriation authority for all operating funds, including grants, Internal Service funds, Enterprise funds and Special Revenue funds that, when combined with the General Fund, totals $3.165 billion.
5/26/2011: Prior To introduction; motion by Council Member Franklin; seconded by Council Member Harrison to amend CB-24-2011 as follows:
On page 8, line 12 delete [.] and add "; such road resurfacing projects shall have a goal of at least 51% of those related jobs being held by County residents."
Motion carried by voice vote.
