Title

A RESOLUTION CONCERNING VISION ZERO PROGRAM for the purpose of establishing a Vision Zero Program for Prince George’s County to achieve zero traffic deaths on the County’s roadways by 2040.

Background

This Resolution establishes a Vision Zero Program for Prince George’s County which seeks to achieve a reduction in the number of fatal and serious injury crashes to zero by 2040.

Vision Zero is an international movement to put an end to fatal traffic accidents that relies on data-driven approaches to improve the engineering of the road, to conduct targeted education and enforcement, and to change laws to improve driver behavior and increase penalties for dangerous conduct on the roads. Vision Zero utilizes a comprehensive, multidisciplinary, collaborative and data driven approach to end pedestrian and bicyclists’ fatalities and serious injuries and significantly decrease motorist fatalities and serious injuries.
