Title

AN ACT CONCERNING DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES for the purpose of amending provisions of the County Code to change the name of the Department of Environmental Resources to the Department of the Environment.

Background

This Bill is companion legislation to the reorganization proposal included in Executive Order No. 10-2014 and will amend the Schedule of Legislation and certain references in the County Code such that all references to the Department of Environmental Resources be changed to the Department of the Environment.  This name change will more accurately reflect the functions of the department to distinguish it from its past identity as a building permit, inspection and code enforcement agency with a renewed image that projects responsible and innovative environmental stewardship.
