Title

A RESOLUTION CONCERNING MARYLAND-NATIONAL CAPITAL PARK AND PLANNING COMMISSION - PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY MEMBERS - APPOINTMENT AND GEOGRAPHIC BALANCE for the purpose of addressing the geographic distribution and balance of the membership of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission and confirming Peter A. Shapiro to serve as a member of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission and as Chairperson of the Prince George’s County Planning Board to serve on a full-time basis.

 

Background

The Annotated Code of Maryland, Land Use Article, Section 15-203(b)(4) requires the County to provide for reasonable geographic balance with respect to all Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission appointments.  This Resolution addresses the geographic distribution and balance of the membership of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, confirms Peter A. Shapiro to serve as a member of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission and as Chairperson of the Prince George’s County Planning Board to serve on a full-time basis.  With the appointment of Peter A. Shapiro, the geographic distribution of the five members of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning commission from Prince George’s County is reasonable.
